What Did You Come Here to Do?

You have no idea how many times a client has asked me to help them figure out their life’s purpose.

The thing is, I ask myself the same question all the time.  Even though I’ve helped thousands of people in my life as a respiratory therapist and psychotherapist, I still ask myself, how can I be of service? What else can I be doing for the greater good?

Trust.

That’s this week’s and final topic from The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav.  Trust that what you’re doing is helping you take one step closer into fulfilling and living your purpose.

Not everybody has a huge purpose in life.  Not everybody is Oprah Winfrey or Lady Gaga but everyone does have a purpose to fill and execute while here on planet Earth.  It just looks different for every person.

Some people help others in a large scale, some not so much.  Some don’t help others at all.

Trust that you’re not alone.

Trust that you have guides in the physical and non-physical that are willing and able to help you.  You may need to learn how to meditate and get in touch with your spiritual side but they’re there.

Trust the Universe.  Trust God.  Trust yourself.

If you have experienced trauma and aren’t in a place of wanting to learn what that experience is here to teach you and don’t have it right now to even think about your life’s purpose, it’s okay.  Take this time to take care of yourself with much love and tenderness. Or, you’ve experienced trauma and are trying to figure out the lessons and understanding in it, pray for guidance.

So many of my clients, after just a few months of therapy have told me that they’re glad they were able to learn from their traumatic experience.  They trusted the process, as hard as it was and were able to put that part of them to rest.

Trust allows you to heal.  Trust allows you to pull the uglies from deep within and shed light to it, no different than Oprah and Gaga.  They did it too!

Trust in prayer.

Whatever prayer is for you.  Let go of specifics and say to the Universe ‘Place me where I need to be.  Place me in front of the people that need to hear and receive my God given gifts.  What are my God given gifts?  Show me.’

Prayer can take you from a place of thinking too much to a place of Spirit.  Prayer can take you from a place of feeling too much emotion to a place of devotion, to a place of surrender.  When surrender happens that’s when you let go and allow the Universe, God, all that is do for you.

Whenever you ask yourself, ‘what’s my life’s purpose?’ Love and do what’s fun!

As always,

Choose Love.

Maria
